Refraction

Solo Exhibition - 8 February – 8 March, 2020
REDBASE Foundation Indonesia

Refraction addresses the pitfalls of fast-paced information, superficial judgments, and misinterpretation in the digital era through the watercolor works of Andi Waskito. Focusing on themes of perception, identity, and subjective interpretation, Waskito uses distorted imagery, specifically glass block refractions and blurred facial forms as metaphors for how easily outer appearances misrepresent inner truth. The exhibition challenges viewers to look beyond social media profiles and initial impressions, highlighting the complex barriers people construct around their authentic selves.
