Nancy Nan is a Chinese-Australian gallerist whose two-decades-long career has been central to the international reception of Chinese and Southeast Asian contemporary art. She has founded, co-founded, and directed galleries across Singapore, Beijing, New York, Jakarta, and currently directs REDBASE Foundation Yogyakarta and REDBASE Art Sydney.
From 2001, Nancy co-founded and directed Art Seasons Singapore and later Beijing, where she curated the landmark exhibition Hua Jia Di and was profiled as one of eight leading dealers in Chinese contemporary art. From 2007, she directed Eli Klein Fine Art in New York and later Beijing. The artists she brought to New York entered the collections and exhibitions of the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, and the Museum of Arts and Design. In 2014, Nancy relocated to Indonesia and established REDBASE Foundation in Yogyakarta as the non-profit extension of REDBASE Art Management. The Foundation has staged more than sixty exhibitions, hosted a longstanding artist in residence program, and delivered continuous programming in art education. Three residency alumni have won UOB Painting of the Year titles, and one has won the Grand Prize of the Sovereign Asian Art Prize.
REDBASE Sydney was established in 2021 to bring the finest Asian contemporary art to Australian audiences.
Nicholas Tsoutas is an independent curator, writer and arts consultant. Nicholas has had a distinguished professional career in contemporary art spanning over forty years, as an academic, curator and director in major institutions that include Adjunct Fellow at Sydney College of the Arts, University of Sydney; Zelda Stedman Lecturer in Visual Arts, Sydney College of the Arts, University of Sydney; Director of the Sydney College of the Arts galleries, University of Sydney; Artistic Director Casula Powerhouse and Liverpool Regional Museum, Sydney; Executive Director / Curator, Artspace Visual Arts Centre, Sydney; Director / Curator, Institute of Modern Art, Brisbane, Queensland; Executive Director, The Performance Space, Sydney.
Nicholas has curated contemporary art projects at Guanzou Acadmy of Fine Arts, Minzu University, and at Factory 798, as well as lecturing extensively in Tibet, Shanghai, ShenZhen, Guanzou and Beijing. Additionally, he was a board member of Res Artis, the international network of residency centers based in Amsterdam; Advisor to the Biennale of Sydney; Curator of the Australian Pavilion at the Sao Paolo Biennale; International judge at the Indian Triennale in Delhi; Curator of Australian contemporary art project, ARCO, Madrid, Spain; and International Judge for ARTNOVA 100, Beijing, the major emerging artist exhibition in China. He curated projects for the China Cultural Centre, Sydney, and convened cross cultural dialogues between contemporary Chinese and Australian women artists.
Dr Luise Guest is an independent writer, researcher, and curator, currently a sessional academic at the University of New South Wales in the Faculty of Arts, Design and Architecture. Her research about Chinese contemporary art has been widely published, including in The Journal of Contemporary Chinese Art, The Australian and New Zealand Journal of Art, Yishu Journal, TAASA Review, and Art Monthly Australasia. Her first book, Half the Sky: Conversations with Women Artists in China, was published in 2016 by Piper Press, and her second, Invisible Ink: Feminism and Identity in Contemporary Chinese Art by Bloomsbury in January 2026.
