Since 2015, REDBASE Foundation has welcomed artists from around the world to live and work in our traditional Javanese house on the edge of Yogyakarta. Over more than a decade, more than twenty artists from eleven countries — Slovakia, Indonesia, Canada, Poland, the United States, Australia, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, South Korea, New Zealand, and Japan — have spent two months here, immersed in their practice and the rich cultural surroundings of Yogyakarta. On a rare and limited basis, we also offer residencies in Sydney.

Each residency ends with an exhibition, but the work rarely ends there. Our alumni have gone on to win the UOB Painting of the Year and the Sovereign Asian Art Prize, and to exhibit from the São Paulo Biennale to Art Basel Hong Kong.
