Tan Hana Dharma Mangrwa: Truth is Unambiguous explores Javanese heritage, political dualism, and collective identity through the visual language of pennants and flags. Created by the collaborative group Gegerboyo (Vendy Methodos, EnkaNkmr, Dian Suci Rahmawati, Ipeh Nur, and Prihatmoko Moki), the exhibition draws its title from the second half of Mpu Tantular’s 14th-century Kakawin Sutasoma quote, "Tan Hana Dharma Mangrwa" (there is no split truth; truth is unambiguous), which completes Bhinneka Tunggal Ika. Rooted in the historical role of flags as symbols of group defense and heraldry, the project juxtaposes the Javanese philosophical concept of complementary dualism (rwa bhinedda) against modern societal divisions, such as political rivalries, sports competitions, and religious sectarianism. By using pennants as a conceptual medium, Gegerboyo transforms these historical and contemporary conflicts into a site of unity, mirroring the pluralistic ethos of the Majapahit Kingdom: although each member possesses a distinct visual signature, they unite under a single artistic banner to demonstrate how diverse, opposing forces can ultimately coexist in harmony under a shared, unifying truth.
