REDBASE Jakarta Indonesia
(un)usual presents a joint exhibition by Wang Lei and Dita Gambiro, exploring how everyday materials and cultural symbols can be transformed to question conventional perceptions. In this showcase, Wang Lei presents intricate woven works made from ordinary objects to reveal new aesthetic possibilities and elevate mundane items into contemplative art. Running alongside, Dita Gambiro utilizes hair braids combined with various elements as metaphors for the complexities of modern womanhood, domesticity, and contemporary urban culture. Blending traditional roots with global influences, her works navigate tension, irony, and humor, offering viewers a refreshed perspective on both the material world and the underlying ambiguities of daily life.
