Faelerie

Indonesia

Faelerie is an Indonesian textile artist, who engages with crochet as both technique and conceptual framework. Born 1994 in Wonosobo, she lives and works in Yogyakarta. Her slow and durational process transforms repetition into a reflective ritual.

Since graduating from the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta, her practice has been centred on fragility of torn and seemingly delicate objects that nonetheless retain an innate strength. Through the rhythm of knotting, she navigates memory and the passage of time, giving material form to the vulnerability of human existence.

Faelerie received the ARTJOG Young Artists Award 2025 for her installation The Thirteen Offerings, after being nominated previously in 2023. In 2024, she presented her first solo exhibition in Jakarta and exhibited in Silent Threads at REDBASE, Sydney. Her work has been shown across Indonesia, Australia, and Thailand, including at ARTJOG, Jogja National Museum, and Art Jakarta.
