In (between) Heaven and Earth, time seems to stop. Everything appears suspended in motion, caught in a moment between being and not being, between existence and nothingness, between life and death — as if captured in the space between the past and the future.

Rocks hurtle through empty space, peanuts inhabit a warped space-time universe, and restless waves have ceased while the oceans remain still. It is as if everything exists in a state of imminence — a condition of perpetual anticipation, where something is about to occur, suggesting an immediate future that never arrives.

Meaning seems to have disappeared, with the only constant found in this absence of meaning, or perhaps in a meaning that exists just beyond the frame of the image. The drawings and paintings in (between) Heaven and Earth, rendered with precision in both representation and abstraction, allude to something beyond the stillness of their subjects and the suspended motion they depict. They suggest a force greater than the materiality or inherent energy of the objects themselves — moving towards a power or belief system that is itself more immanent.

Collectively, the works evoke an energy that feels omnipresent, where the unknowable beyond the frame is both immanent and transcendent. (between) Heaven and Earth invites us to look beyond ourselves, beyond our mortal and material existence, towards a profoundly spiritual state of being and a higher consciousness capable of questioning the very nature of existence itself, as well as our understanding of the concepts of heaven and earth.
